A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR SOUTHERN COOK WATERS AND LAND AREAS.

Situation:

A trough of low pressure with cloud and showers remains slow moving to the northeast of Southern Cooks. Meanwhile, a strong southeasterly wind flow prevails over the group.

A weak trough of low pressure with cloud and showers lies slow moving in the vicinity of Northern Cooks.

Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Southern Cooks:

Occasional showers, heavy at times and few thunderstorms about and north of Aitutaki and Mauke. Elsewhere, cloudy periods with brief showers.

Strong southeasterly winds 20 to 25 knots.

Rough seas. Moderate southeasterly swells.

Further outlook:

Occasional showers and few thunderstorms.

For Rarotonga:

Cloudy periods with brief showers. Showers becoming frequent later. Strong southeasterly winds 20 to 25 knots. Rough seas.

Moderate southeasterly swells.

Further outlook:

Occasional showers and few thunderstorms.

For the Northern Cooks:

Cloudy periods with some showers and isolated thunderstorms south of Manihiki. Elsewhere, brief showers.  

Moderate east to northeasterly winds.

Moderate seas.
