A HEAVY RAIN WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR SOUTHERN COOKS.
SITUATION:

A TROPICAL DISTURBANCE TD05F WAS LOCATED NEAR 24.9S 162.5W [N20] AT 08:00PM CILT TO THE FAR SOUTHWEST OF SOUTHERN COOKS. THE ASSOCIATED CONVERGENCE ZONE BRINGS GALE FORCE WINDS OVER SOUTHERN COOKS WITH ASSOCIATED CLOUD AND RAIN.

FORECAST FOR ALL LAND AREAS OF SOUTHERN COOKS:

EXPECT EAST TO NORTHERLY GALE FORCE WINDS OF UP TO 65KM/HR WITH GUSTS UP TO 90KM/HR EASING TO 55KM/HR WITH GUSTS TO 75KM/HR TONIGHT. PERIODS OF RAIN, HEAVY AT TIMES WITH SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS.

FORECAST FOR ALL SOUTHERN COOKS WATERS:

EAST TO NORTHERLY GALE FORCE WINDS OF UP TO 35 KNOTS WITH GUSTS OF 50 KNOTS EASING TO 30 KNOTS WITH GUSTS TO 45 KNOTS TONIGHT. HIGH SEAS WITH HEAVY TO DAMAGING SWELLS. POOR VISIBILITY IN AREAS OF HEAVY RAIN.

EXPECTED IMPACTS:

ISOLATED DAMAGES TO TREE BRANCHES, SOME HOUSES OF LIGHT MATERIALS OR UNSHIELDED STRUCTURES IN EXPOSED COMMUNITIES. POOR VISIBILITY FOR MOTORISTS IN AREAS OF HEAVY RAIN. HIGH RISK OF SEA TRAVEL FOR ALL CRAFTS. RISKY HARZARDOUS BREAKING WAVES AND COASTAL INUNDATION ALONG LOW LYING COASTAL AREAS.
