A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR LAND AREAS AND WATERS OF SOUTHERN COOKS.

 

Situation:

An active convergence zone, associated with strong winds, clouds and rain bands affects Southern Cooks.

A trough of low pressure affects Northern Cooks. Meanwhile, a moist northeast wind flow prevails over the group.

 

Forecast to midnight tonight for the Southern Cooks:

Over Land: Moderate to Fresh northerly winds. Winds increasing to 20 to 30 knots gusting to 45 knots.

Over Waters: Moderate to Fresh northerly winds. Winds increasing to

20 to 30 knots gusting to 45 knots. Rough to very rough seas.

Moderate to heavy northwesterly swells.

For coastal areas expect sea flooding especially during high tides.

Occasional rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms.

Further outlook:    Rain and thunderstorms continuing.

 

For Rarotonga:

Over Land: Moderate to fresh northerly winds. Winds increasing to 20 to 30 knots gusting to 45 knots later today.

Over Waters: Moderate to fresh northerly winds. Winds increasing to

20 to 30 knots gusting to 45 knots later today. Rough to very rough seas. Moderate to heavy northwesterly swells.
